Hiring during the pandemic can be challenging yet we’ve been able to do so. At Chernoff Newman, we are curious by nature, we continuously think of ways to refine processes and improve outcomes. We push boundaries, ask tough questions and aren’t afraid to stray from the status quo. Often, in working with our clients, we are thrown curveballs where we need to remain nimble, embrace change, gather data, adjust thinking and be willing and ready to adapt as needed. Many of these qualities have well prepared us for working, thriving, and yes, even hiring during a pandemic.
It's more than simply meeting all the job requirements.
In addition to meeting all the job requirements outlined for the position, personality and cultural fit are more important now than ever before. Due to COVID-19 and the work-from-home environment that our agency and most of our clients are experiencing, we knew a new team member needed to be outgoing, proactive, a strong communicator and committed to relationship-building regardless of the platform.
Add extra steps and safety into the interview process.
Prior to interviewing candidates (safely via Zoom), we asked those who met qualifications to take two personality assessments. Every employee at Chernoff Newman participates in this process –– we believe measuring our collective traits and voices is essential to agency growth. These assessments are not intended to replace interviews, but rather to help us identify strengths, understand preferred communication styles, identify areas of growth potential, assist us in better team management and development, and allows us to recruit and hire the very best people.
With persistence brings success. Welcome, Natalie Billas!
I am pleased to announce that following this process, we have identified and hired Natalie Billas as the newest Account Manager to join our team. Natalie comes to us with 7 years of agency experience and most recently she oversaw all marketing efforts for a large nonprofit in the community. Only a couple weeks in and Natalie’s get-it-done, client-focused and team-driven attitude has allowed for a seamless transition into the agency. Because she can’t physically pop into offices for face-to-face introductions, she has participated in one-on-one Zoom meetings and phone calls with folks across the agency, as well as the new clients she will work with. We are impressed with her experience, talents and spirit. Her skillset is important and valuable in taking our team and company to the next level and I look forward to doing great work together.
