When the National Hydrogen Association decided to bring its annual conference and expo to Columbia, SC, the group approached Chernoff Newman to drive attendance to the event and to showcase Columbia as a major hub for fuel cell research.

Because of the cutting-edge nature of fuel cell research, we knew a traditional marketing and public relations plan wasn’t enough. Using social media and interactive tools, Chernoff Newman not only communicated with NHA members and industry leaders to showcase Columbia, but also reached out to local audiences to show how a successful conference would further the region’s growing role in the hydrogen fuel cell industry.

The results were astounding even to us. Over 2,250 people attended conference events over four days – the largest secular conference ever held in Columbia.

In addition to NHA, we worked closely with local partner organizations, including EngenuitySC, City of Columbia, Richland County, University of South Carolina, USC-Columbia Fuel Cell Collaborative, NSF Center for Fuel Cells, Columbia CVB, Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, and Central SC Alliance.
