Since 2007, we’ve worked with the South Carolina Department of Agriculture to increase sales of the state’s agricultural products.
South Carolinians are known for their fierce pride in their state, and we developed the Certified South Carolina Grown initiative as a way of creating an emotional connection with South Carolina consumers and strengthening brand loyalty to state products.
A watershed moment in the initiative came in June 2008, when Walmart signed on to Certified South Carolina Grown. To launch this partnership, increase awareness and drive sales, we created consumer and media events featuring live cooking demonstrations along with samples and recipes using locally grown food. Events were held on a single day in South Carolina’s largest media markets, with a local farmer on hand with the store manager to highlight Certified South Carolina Grown products.
