Putting strategic leadership to work for the Tri-County community.

Peter LaMotte, Chernoff Newman’s President of Strategic Communications, has been named chair of the Trident United Way Board of Directors.

Peter has been actively involved with Trident United Way for years, previously serving as chair of its Marketing Advisory Council. As board chair, he’ll work with President and CEO DJ Hampton, TUW leadership, and fellow board members as the organization pursues a significant goal: helping 15,000 Tri-County families move out of poverty and build lasting financial stability by 2035.

It’s work that fits Peter well.

For more than two decades, he’s advised corporations, nonprofits, associations, government organizations and other leaders on reputation management, marketing, strategic communications and crisis response. At Chernoff Newman, he leads work that often starts with a complicated problem and a simple question: What’s the clearest, smartest way forward?

And he’s no stranger to community leadership. Peter lends his time and expertise to organizations across South Carolina, serving on the board of the Palmetto Project, Lowcountry Center for Veterans Research, Charleston Regional Development Alliance, and the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.

His appointment to board chair also strengthens an already longstanding partnership between Chernoff Newman and Trident United Way. For many years, our agency has worked alongside TUW, providing marketing and communications support and giving team members opportunities to participate in the nonprofit’s mission.

So while the title is new, the relationship isn’t. Peter is already deeply familiar the organization, the community it serves, and what it takes to drive change. His experience and perspective will help TUW keep building momentum around the meaningful work ahead.
