Chernoff Newman expands Public Relations team in Carolinas

Agency hires public relations professionals in Charlotte and Charleston offices

October 21, 2021

As a fully integrated communications agency, our public relations team is an integral piece to the puzzle. Over the years, we’ve seen an uptick in clients coming to us for public relations, public affairs, issues management, community outreach and social media strategies and services. Our team has continued to develop, and we’ve recently welcomed two new professionals to our growing practice.

The Chernoff Newman team is pleased to welcome Katie Brewer and Savannah Scott to the agency.

Katie Brewer, Chernoff Newman

Katie Brewer, a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University (Berea, Ohio), joined the team as a public relations specialist in the agency’s Charlotte office. Katie brings with her more than three years of experience managing communications strategies for a variety of industries, most recently working as a public relations associate for Cleveland-based firm Yopko Penhallurick. Previously, Katie was public relations manager and spokesperson for Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. In her new role, she will be responsible for executing strategic public relations initiatives for clients including Charlotte Water and the South Carolina Election Commission. In her spare time, Katie enjoys exploring the Queen City’s local breweries with her dog, Moose, and girlfriend, Mollie. She is also an avid indoor gardener.

Savannah Scott, Chernoff Newman

The Charleston office welcomes Savannah Scott as a new public relations coordinator. Savannah, a graduate of Winthrop University (Rock Hill, S.C.), brings collegiate journalism experience to the agency, recently serving as the editor-in-chief of Winthrop University’s The Johnsonian for several years. She was recognized by the Press Association for her news story covering the “Save Winthrop Tennis” initiative and the pushback they received from administration. Scott’s role includes cultivating and leveraging media relations for organic and earned media on behalf of clients including Premier Medical Laboratory Services, the Medical University of South Carolina and others. When not in the office, Charleston-native Savannah can likely be found hiking, kayaking, traveling or thrifting with her boyfriend, Dylan, before returning home to her cat, Stella.
